Geoffrey Edwards

Geoffrey Edwards is a musician and audio engineer who actively works and collaborates with a number organizations around the Boston area. Having gotten his dual bachelor’s degree from Keene State College in Music Tech. and Music Composition, Geoff immediately went in to his master’s in music theory at Boston University in 2019, marking a massive step in his career to be a professional musician. The impact of the pandemic during the years of 2020-2022 resulted in a shift of prioritization: to complete his masters degree while simultaneously working A/V jobs at organizations including Harvard University and Saint Cecilia Parish.
It was not longy after that, in 2023, Geoff began his current position at the Longy School of Music as their production manager, where his professions of audio technology and musical engagement merge as a part of his day-to-day operations. Here, he recently completed his second Master in Music Education to improve his teaching and mentorship. His work as a event manager and mentor has only opened the door for more opportunities such as engineering for the Regattbar and teaching live sound at the Berklee College of Music and ZUMIX school in East Boston.

While Geoff does not claim to possess a specific destination for his career goals, he hope to show through his work and mentor ship the value that music engagement can bring to the individual and to the entire community. And while live audio engineering and sound design is not commonly viewed as a musicianship practice, his current mentorship practices focus on the qualities of the work that suggest the same applications of attentiveness and professionalism that equally delivers a quality performance. The grand sum of his musical studies and work experiences have only propelled his career and motivation to explore varying applications of music and audio, and how he can bring that same level of appreciation and engagement to his peers and students.
