Stage Manager

 

The Hive Theatre Company is seeking a non-union Stage Manager for the fall production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown with performances at The Plaza Theatre at The Boston Center for the Arts November 5-15, 2026.

 

Job Summary

The Hive Theatre Company is seeking a highly organized and collaborative Stage Manager to join the production team for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. This role is integral to the smooth operation of the rehearsal process, technical rehearsals, and performances. As a key member of a new and growing theatre company, the Stage Manager will help establish best practices and foster a supportive, professional rehearsal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend production meetings

  • Monitor auditions and callbacks

  • Record blocking 

  • Send out daily rehearsal call and performance reports to the production team

  • Communicate effectively with cast members regarding schedule and other important updates

  • Ensure the rehearsal space is prepared and returned to its original state

  • Call the show

  • Be present for all rehearsals, dress rehearsals, technical rehearsals and performances

  • Maintain consistency of performances

  • Handle emergencies or unexpected issues during performances

  • Fulfill any additional ongoing requests related to the stage management of the production

  • Adhere to all program policies and safety guidelines, ensuring a positive experience for all participants

 

 

Qualifications

  • Previous stage management experience (musical theatre experience preferred).

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism under pressure.

  • Comfort with managing schedules

  • Familiarity with technical theatre processes, including basic sound and lighting cues.

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse artists and staff in a fast-paced rehearsal process.

  • Excitement about being part of a brand-new theater company and contributing to its founding vision and culture.

Rehearsal Location: The Arts Resource Room in the Calderwood Pavilion 527 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116

 

Tech and Performance Location: The Plaza Theatre at The Boston Center for The Arts, 539 Tremont St. Boston, MA 02116

Production Meetings:  Production meetings will be held throughout the summer and as needed during the rehearsal process

 

Auditions/Callbacks: Dates TBD (Early September)

 

Rehearsals: October 4th-October 30
 

Tech & Dress: October 31-November 4

 

Performances: November 5-15
 

Strike: Evening of November 15

 

 

Compensation

1099 Stipend: Negotiable based on availability and scope of experience
